Defendant Lawrence Merrill, an attorney, appeals from a judgment of the Superior Court (Penobscot County, Smith, J.) following a jury trial. The jury found Merrill liable to plaintiff Norman Burton for professional negligence, and by a general verdict awarded Burton damages of $50,376. Merrill contends that the evidence presented at trial was insufficient to support the jury's conclusion that he committed legal malpractice and was also insufficient...
