In the July 1988, term of the Warren County Grand Jury, George Owens was indicted for the murder of Edward Wright. A change of venue was granted, and the trial was moved to Sharkey County in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. Trial commenced on April 25, 1989, and after three days of testimony and other evidence, the jury convicted Owens for the crime of manslaughter. Owens was sentenced to serve eighteen (18) years in the custody...
