MIRABAL, Justice.

The question presented in this appeal is whether a trial court must hold an oral hearing, if a defendant requests one, before the trial court can properly grant a plaintiff's motion for sanctions for defendant's failure to obey a court order to provide discovery, under Tex.R.Civ.P. 215(2)(b)(5).
