On August 8, 1990 Kollmorgen Corporation ("Kollmorgen") filed suit against Gettys Corporation ("Gettys") alleging patent infringement. Gettys filed an answer to the complaint and then moved to transfer the case to the United States District Court for Wisconsin pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1404(a).
