Plaintiff was injured and her husband was killed when the plane on which they were travelling crashed en route from Colombia to New York in early 1990. She brought this action against Aerovias Nacionales de Colombia, S.A. ("Avianca, S.A."), the operator of the aircraft, and The Boeing Company, the manufacturer of the aircraft to recover for the injuries they sustained as a result of that crash.
