This malpractice case arises from an automobile accident that resulted in injuries the appellant had treated at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center (St. Bernard's). During surgery on September 25, 1984, appellant had a cardiac/respiratory arrest, and because of this occurrence, he suffers from serious and permanent brain injury.
