After pleading no contest, Donald L. Bumpus was convicted of two counts of first degree burglary, a class B felony. A divided court of appeals concluded that Bumpus' resulting sentence was excessive and his case was remanded with instructions setting an upper limit for any new sentence. Bumpus v.
