Justice STEIGMANN delivered the opinion of the court:

Defendant, Phillip Ricksy, was convicted at a bench trial of one count of possession of less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine. (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 56½, par. 1402(b).) He was sentenced to 30 months' probation, fined $500, and ordered to serve 150 days of periodic imprisonment. On appeal, defendant argues that the trial court erred in denying his motion to suppress evidence. We agree and reverse...
