GRANT, Justice.

Following a jury trial on July 6, 1989, the defendant-appellant, Ralph E. Thomas, was convicted in the district court for Knox County on the charge of failure to appear, in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 29-908 (Reissue 1989). Defendant was sentenced to imprisonment for 1 year, to be served consecutively to a sentence previously imposed for a conviction of assault.
