On May 13, 1988, the circuit court of Macon County convicted defendant Chris Blane Manley of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 56 1/2, par. 1402(b)) and unlawful possession of cannabis (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 56 1/2, par. 704(a)). The court subsequently sentenced him to three years' imprisonment for the controlled substances offense and 30 days' imprisonment...
