FERREN, Associate Judge:

Pursuant to a plea agreement, appellant pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder while armed, D.C.Code §§ 22-2403, -3202 (1989). On March 2, 1989, the trial court sentenced appellant to "life imprisonment." The trial court also stated that the mandatory minimum sentence for the crime was five years of imprisonment.
