Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. (Ill. Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, pars. 12-14(a)(2) and 12-16(d).) The court sentenced defendant to 16 years imprisonment, followed by three years of mandatory supervised release.
