Respondent determined a deficiency of $1,235 in petitioner's Federal income tax for 1985. In his notice of deficiency dated April 12, 1989, respondent included in petitioner's gross income as additional alimony the amount of $9,790 received as her portion of her former husband's military retirement pay or, alternatively, that such amount constituted taxable pension income to petitioner...
