Rose Oakes and Calvin J. Oakes, the plaintiffs-appellants (the "Oakes"), filed an amended complaint in the Superior Court on August 31, 1988. The amended complaint named, as a defendant, the appellee Jet Group, Inc. ("Jet Group"), which operates the Royal Exchange Restaurant-Branmar ("Royal Exchange").
