On March 21, 1986, Jack D. Reechel, a Baltimore longshoreman, was killed at the Dundalk Marine Terminal while working for Maher Terminals, a stevedoring firm which was unloading containers from the M/V ITALICA. Reechel had transported an overheight, open-top (one whose top is covered with tarpaulin), 40-foot container, which had been unloaded from the vessel, to a storage lot somewhat less than a mile from the dock.
