The Farm Credit System is a national network of federally-chartered farm lending institutions. In December 1985 Congress enacted the Farm Credit Amendments Act of 1985 ("1985 Amendments Act"), Pub.L. No. 99-205, 99 Stat. 1678, in response to a severe financial crisis gripping the Farm Credit System.
