In this action, female and black employees of the Maritime Administration (MarAd) claimed that MarAd engaged in systemic discrimination in hiring and promotions on the basis of sex and race in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq. In a Memorandum and Order filed June 7, 1982, the Court found that MarAd had discriminated on the basis of race, but that plaintiffs...
