Following a bench trial in the circuit court of Cook County, defendant was found guilty of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(1)) and sentenced to 30 years in the penitentiary. In this appeal from that judgment, defendant contends that the trial court erred in admitting his written statement into evidence since it had been obtained in violation of his fifth amendment...
