Plaintiffs represent a class of persons who borrowed money from defendant, Prudential Savings and Loan Association.1 Plaintiffs' loans were incorporated into promissory notes and were secured by deeds of trust on plaintiffs' homes. The notes and/or deeds of trust imposed a penalty if the loans were pre-paid prior to maturity.
