This litigation involves crop losses incurred by 350 sugar beet growers in the Red River Valley of Minnesota and North Dakota. The crop damage resulted from a five-day freeze in October of 1981. The post-freeze harvest totaled some 2.3 million tons of beets and the growers' losses allegedly were in the multi-million dollar range. The growers are cooperative members of the American Crystal Sugar Company ...
