On May 23, 1981, Tammy Thibodeaux, co-plaintiff in this matter, purchased with a personal check $14.66 worth of goods from the West Brothers Department Store in Crowley, Louisiana, in Acadia Parish. The check was returned to the store for non-sufficient funds. The store manager sent a certified letter to plaintiff informing her of this fact and requested restitution.
