Ekundayo Pratt, a citizen of Sierra Leone, brought this action under the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C. § 688, and the general maritime law against his employer, the United Arab Shipping Company (United Arab), a Kuwaiti joint venture corporation, to recover for injuries sustained on September 29, 1978 in the service of the M/V ARAFAT, as that vessel plied the waters of the Persian Gulf.
