The sole question presented by this appeal is whether the trial court erred by denying defendant's motion to dismiss at the close of the State's evidence and at the close of all the evidence.

It is incumbent upon the State to prove the existence of each and every element of the offense with which defendant is charged. In passing on a motion to dismiss, it is the court's duty to ascertain if there is substantial evidence of each essential element...
