The defendant appeals his conviction of attempted first degree assault. RSA 631:1 (Supp. 1983); RSA 629:1. The sole issue raised on appeal is whether the doctrine of collateral estoppel precluded the State from relitigating at the defendant's trial an issue which had been previously resolved against the State.
