As a result of a nonjury trial in the Circuit Court for Calvert County, Michael Joseph Duley was convicted of child abuse (Md. Ann. Code art. 27, § 35A) and manslaughter in connection with the death of his daughter. The trial judge sentenced Duley to fifteen years imprisonment on the abuse charge and suspended imposition of the sentence on the manslaughter conviction.
