The defendant, Wayne Aldrich, appeals his conviction in Superior Court (Cann, J.) for escape from official custody, RSA 642:6. The issues presented for our review are whether the State may properly charge the defendant with "knowingly" escaping from official custody, when the escape statute itself (RSA 642:6) does not prescribe a culpable mental state, and whether the admission of certain inadmissible hearsay...
