On May 26 and 27, 1983, this case was tried to the Court sitting without a jury. Plaintiffs brought the action under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1982 and 1983, alleging that the defendants violated their civil rights under the First, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution. More specifically, plaintiffs complained that the termination of their employment as deputies in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office was an illegal retaliation...
