BACKGROUND

Plaintiff is a Dallas bank which was defrauded by one of its customers (not a party to this action) to the tune of some $60,000. The fraud was accomplished by causing a check deposited for collection to take an anfractuous route towards the bank on which the check had, ostensibly, been drawn, and withdrawing the check's proceeds before notice of nonpayment had been received by plaintiff...
