On October 13, 1975, a tractor and trailer owned by Interstate Motor Freight Systems (Interstate) and driven by its employee, Ernest Cesarone, was backed up to the freight dock of Ajax Rolled Ring Company (Ajax) to be loaded with a shipment of Ajax's steel rings.
