On July 21, 1977 the plaintiff-appellant, Michael Schaefer (hereinafter "Landlord") filed a civil complaint in Justice Court seeking judgment against the defendant-appellee, Janis F. Murphey (hereinafter "Tenant"). Landlord alleged Tenant was indebted to him for apartment rent for the months of June and July 1977 in the amount of $624 plus $100 for a pet deposit.
