Petitioner Sigval Bergesen, the Norwegian owner of three cargo vessels ("Bergesen"), commenced this action against respondent Joseph Muller Corporation ("Muller"), a Swiss corporation and charterer of the vessels, to confirm and enter judgment upon an award of arbitrators rendered in New York in favor of Bergesen and against Muller pursuant to arbitration clauses contained in the charter parties.
