Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, the defendant, James Bracey, was convicted of attempt (murder) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 8-4), aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 12-4), and armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 33A-1 through 33A-3). He was sentenced to a 13-year term...
