On February 15, 1980, in the Circuit Court for Washington County, appellants Darrell Edwin Briscoe and Thomas Blue Jowers pled guilty to first degree murder. They were convicted, and on May 12, 1980, Briscoe was sentenced to life in prison, while Jowers received a sentence of fifteen years' imprisonment.
