This case arises out of a series of news telecasts on WCVB-TV (Channel 5) in Boston implicating plaintiff (Jones) in certain murders that took place in Los Angeles roughly three years ago. Citing these broadcasts, plaintiff seeks to recover for defamation, invasion of privacy, and infringement of his civil rights under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
