The Hancock Peanut Company sought to recover damages caused by the alleged negligence of Charles Spears, Jr., who in operating a tractor-trailer for his employer, J & E Express, Inc., struck and ruptured an extension pipe attached to plaintiff's warehouse sprinkler system.
