This appeal involves a dispute between two furniture businesses located next to one another in nearly identical buildings on Telegraph Road in Southfield. One store, Bedland, Inc., owned by Irving and Kathryn Lawton and their son, sells bedroom furniture and accessories displayed on the premises. Bedland began operating on Telegraph Road in 1959, and according to Lawton maintained a large inventory from about a dozen manufacturers so that most of his customers...
