Peak, M.D., a physician at John Umstead Hospital, filed his sworn petition before a magistrate pursuant to G.S. 122-58.3(a) for the involuntary commitment of the respondent. In this petition Dr. Peak alleged that respondent was mentally ill and imminently dangerous to herself or others.
