On February 11, 1932, 0. F. Plair and L. J. Plair, his wife, conveyed by warranty deed 53.5 acres of land in Bradley County, Arkansas to their daughter, Beulah Sligh and "her bodily heirs". The consideration was $900 to be paid over five years for which a lien was retained. The deed recited:

... the further consideration and condition that the said Beulah Sligh shall live upon the premises herein conveyed and shall not mortgage...
