This appeal presents the question of whether there was probable cause for the warrantless search of defendant, his vehicle and a briefcase found in it, upon his arrival at a residence which was the scene of substantial illegal activity in drugs. The trial court held that there was, denied defendant's motion to suppress evidence resulting from the search and convicted him of criminal activity in drugs, ORS 167.207, after trial without a jury.
