Defendant-appellant William Van Lewis was found guilty by a jury of having knowingly and unlawfully possessed the Schedule I controlled substance heroin in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1).1 Appellant was sentenced to serve a term of 18 months in prison.
