Robert Faulkner, an employee of the North Carolina Department of Correction, brought this action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 complaining that his discharge by the defendants deprived him of liberty and property without due process of law and that his suspension and final termination were racially motivated, thus depriving him of equal protection of laws.
