After a jury trial, appellant was convicted of first degree murder while armed (D.C. Code 1973, § 22-2401) and possession of a prohibited weapon (D.C.Code 1973, § 22-3214(a)). He was sentenced to life imprisonment on the murder conviction and two to six years' imprisonment on the weapons conviction.
