Defendant was convicted of two counts of first degree murder, one count of assault with intent to commit murder, and one count of attempted armed robbery. He was sentenced to death on each of the two counts of first degree murder, to a period of not less than eighty years nor more than life on the attempted murder count, and to a period of not less than twenty nor more than thirty years on the attempted armed robbery count.
