This malpractice proceeding arises out of a classic case of mistaken identity. On March 29, 1971, Gladys Bruce was admitted to the Southeastern Kentucky Baptist Hospital as a patient for Dr. Catron who was to perform a conization of the cervix on March 30. On March 27, 1971, Mrs. Jessie Smith was admitted as a patient of Dr. Hamilton who was to perform a thyroidectomy on her on March 30.
