An offshore gas well "blew out" on January 13, 1970. Plaintiff, the well owner, filed claims with the defendant insurance underwriters under policies in force at the time to recover $262,613.19, which constituted the total expenses allegedly incurred by plaintiff to bring the well under control, in the amount of $1,262,613.19, less an applicable deductible...
