The claims of the Cali patent (No. 3,265,290) relate to a modification introduced into JT-4 jet engines in which the seventh stage vane and shroud assembly of the low pressure compressor is affixed to the fairing by welding or by tie-rods. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant international air carriers have infringed the patent by using JT-4 engines so modified in their flights to and from the United States...
