On October 30, 1968, defendant was convicted of the crimes of robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon. On May 1, 1969 the Legal Aid Society, which had represented him during the trial, was assigned to perfect the appeal. While preparing the appeal, Legal Aid first discovered that the society had also been assigned to represent, in an unrelated criminal proceeding, the complaining witness at defendant...
