GORDON, Justice.

Plaintiff George W. Keatley, an employee of Norfolk and Western Railway Company, brought this action against the Railroad to recover for personal injuries sustained in an accident. He based his action on the Federal Employers' Liability Act, 45 U.S.C. §§ 51-60 (1964), and on the Federal Safety Appliance Acts, 45 U.S.C. §§ 1-43 (1964). The court submitted the case to the jury under both Acts, the jury returned a $35,000 verdict...
