The defendant, Troy Barnett, was prosecuted in the Circuit Court of Lake County on an indictment for murder and voluntary manslaughter. The jury returned a verdict finding him guilty of voluntary manslaughter and he was sentenced by the court to a term of two to five years imprisonment. Defendant moved for a new trial alleging, among other things, that the issue of voluntary manslaughter was not properly raised...
