The First National Bank of Fredonia, Kansas, instituted this action in Jasper County against Carl R. Meadows to recover, in the language of appellant bank's brief, sums in excess of $15,000.00 "from the defendant on four promissory notes." At the close of plaintiff's evidence and because of material alterations in the four notes by plaintiff's executive officer the court sustained defendant's motion for a directed verdict, entered judgment...
